Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Bin Jassim Al-Thani, Vice-Chairman
Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Bin Jassim Al-Thani has served as Vice-Chairman of the QNFSP shortly following the launch of the programme. As Vice-Chairman, Sheikh Hamad plays an integral leadership role in the development of programme policy. As a member of the ruling family, Sheikh Hamad has extensive knowledge of government and military affairs. Noted for his keen intellect, Sheikh Hamad has spearheaded several groundbreaking initiatives that have furthered technological, social, and cultural advancement in Qatar.
While serving in the Qatar Armed Forces, Sheikh Hamad established the Directorate of Information Systems and created a system of procedures that allowed the Procurement Directorate to effectively follow and resolve all procurements to final delivery throughout the Armed Forces. He served as the Chairman of the Arab Amusement Attraction Association and as Chairman of the Qatar Leisure Tourism Development Company, being instrumental in the establishment of the first theme park in the Arabian Gulf (Aladdin’s Kingdom). Sheikh Hamad also served as the Chairman of the Qatar Disabled Sports Club and represented Qatari delegations to international competitions.
Sheikh Hamad is particularly interested on how leading-edge technologies and systems integration can be applied to solve the challenges which the QNFSP policy will need to overcome. Sheikh Hamad studied Economics and Political Science at Portland State University in Oregon.
