- The Department of Water
The Department of Water manages the water resources in the State of Qatar. It develops plans and programmes for the management and conservation of different water resources. The Department monitors water quality to make sure it complies with regulation, and determines ways of preventing or reducing environmental pollution caused by sewage effluent. The Department is also responsible for issuing permits for drilling and maintaining wells, as well as carrying out research and studies related to the management and development of water resources.
- The Department of Agricultural Affairs
The Department of Agricultural Affairs is responsible for the preparation and implementation of plans and programmes that will achieve sustainable agricultural development in Qatar. The Department is involved in a number of outreach programmes, as well as providing information and training to farmers to help them adopt modern methods of production.
- The Department of Fisheries
The Department of Fisheries is responsible for the development and protection of fisheries. The Department also issues licenses to fishing vessels and fishermen in accordance with the provisions of the law. The Department has begun the establishment of experimental fish farms and research programmes to develop these in coordination with the concerned authorities.
- The Department of Animal Resources
The Department of Animal Resources is in charge of the protection of livestock and the veterinary supervision of various animal diseases. The Department also issues import permits, and oversees the exportation, transfer and transit of living organisms and animal products across borders.
